Barwon Heads

We travelled down to Barwon Heads on Monday and stayed overnight to enjoy an engaging and wonderful luncheon with former work mates and spouses. The weather was sunny and lots of people enjoyed the beach. The final photo shows a side view of where we had lunch.

Barwon Heads is a delightful coastal township on the Bellarine Peninsula, close to Geelong, and less than 2 hours’ drive from where we live. It is located on the west bank of the mouth of the Barwon River below Lake Connewarre, while it is bounded to the west by farmland, golf courses and the ephemeral saline wetland Murtnaghurt Lagoon.

A beautiful late spring day! If ever travel is practical again, we may come and visit ... golf eh? ;-)

Hi Deanna,
Indeed a beautiful day. There are so many world class golf courses in Melbourne in what is known as the sand belt you are spoilt for choice. Sadly, my golfing days are over with a crook back , but I still very very much enjoy watching. I have also fond memories from the game and have even kept a card of my best round ever when I broke the course record, but it could not be recognised as that day as we played from the back markers but we also invoked the rule of preferred lies. Best wishes

I thought I'd share with you a few pictures of the nearby park where we enjoy frequent long walks.

Happy Christmas, Lindsay 🎄

Hi Susan,
Thanks for dropping in and I enjoyed your lovely pictures. I trust you are continuing to enjoy the location and probably feel pleased you made the big move when you did, given the events I have read about at Portland.
I’ m not sure you are aware but Gary Ockenden(Withinsight) died just over a year ago on November 18, 2019, from what was most likely a cardiac arrest caused by arrhythmia. He was only 68. I attended a zoom celebration of his life early in the morning of the 21st December 19, 2020, (noon pacific time), which was very moving. There were over 200 people in attendance and many innovations apart from the various eulogies.
Best wishes to you and yours.

Hi Lindsay,
Gary was both an old friend and our former brother-in-law. We knew about his sudden death almost immediately as his ex-wife, my husband's sister, lives here in Victoria and we see her quite often. Their son and daughter we don't see quite so regularly as Ryan is in Vancouver and Zoey in NYC - recent travel restrictions have made in-person visits next to impossible. We were invited to the on-line memorial but don't use the program at all. I'm glad to know it was so well attended.
Yes, we're very glad not to be in Portland nowadays, but the situation there has made both of us sorrowful. It was a wonderful place. Of course, now that winter's here again we're even happier not to be in Halifax anymore.
I know things have been difficult there as well. Let's hope the New Year brings a return to sanity and good health.
Best wishes as always.
