Mansfield

Mansfield is a pleasant 2 hour drive from Melbourne located at the foot of the Great Dividing Range and surrounded by grazing land and mountainous forests. The township and surrounding districts bursts with historical buildings as it was a gold mining service centre during the 1850’s.
We spent a day in the small picturesque town of Jamieson and to read a history of the historic buildings click here

The last picture is breathtaking. It looks like it was taken from a high point - did you get to hike, or were you able to drive up to a high elevation?

Actually I took this photo from pretty high. We drove until certain point and than hiked rest of the distance (3-4 km). And I agree with you, the view was breathtaking.... :)

It's so refreshing to see such beautiful photographs of the countryside near your home city. Floods and droughts not withstanding, Australia must be a gorgeous place to live.

I like the trees.
It looks like it would smell really good to walk through that place.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your comments.
Susan – a fragile country that responds very well to any environmental encouragement evident in recent heavy rains to bring abundant flowers and invigorated new growth to enhance our rugged landscape.

Mercutio- all of the senses are invoked.
