"what new birth does death provide?" this cuts deeply today. my elderly father has given up on life, and sits day after day, refusing to live, waiting to die. he's not terminally ill or terribly incapacitated, for his 90 years. he just doesn't want life any more.

I enlarged the image as you suggested and found it to be as marvelous as your beautiful poem suggests. I believe that we expand the Universe as we grow in love and wisdom. Our spiritual essence is pure and only ego's fear keeps us from joyful understanding.

As C.S. Lewis once wrote, "Where, except in uncreated light, can the darkness be drowned?"

Hi Granny f, Susan & Sera – thanks for your visit and thoughtful comments.
Granny F
Your comment reminds me of my mother who nearly died but recovered for several years thereafter to say ‘ I should have died before when it was time for me to die’ ; there does seem to come a time for some when they dont want life any more.
Susan – we most certainly do expand the Universe as we grow in love and wisdom. Lovely quote and sentiments about fear keeping us from joyful understanding.

Sera – thanks again for your witty and insightful comments as usual.
