Ntandire Church /Hall nears completion

Here are some photos taken by Dyson in the afternoon on the 11th November 2007 which show the roof and doors now in place. Dyson tells me some parts of Malawi have received some good rains and people have planted maize. With further rains expected anytime this is good news for a country which is exporting its surplus storage stocks left over from last year.

We plan to have our own Christmas function in our school hall with entertainment provided by one of our Malawi support members whose band will entertain us on the night. The modest admittance fee will provide further funds to assist this community to refurbish the inside of their Ntandire Church/ hall.

I love the motion of the boys in the last photo. Great work - I'm proud of all of you! I'm sure the church event will be moving.

Lasts week my daughter Zoey and band performed in a local church to raise money for a youth shelter in town. Good music, good food and good cause..l.

The hall is looking good, Lindsay! You must be very happy to see it nearing completion, and knowing you played a part in that. Thank you for your comment on my blog...Engel from the DVL has written more about our council; supposed to be in this week's DVL. A journo. from the Fairfax local rag has asked me to contact her about the same issue. On the MSN news site tonight, there was an item about Victorian councils going deep into debt...most of them rural which is understandable given the ongoing drought. The article didn't mention Nillumbik!

Wow! that didn't take very long, did it?

I'll bet the Malawi band will be fun.

Start as a human being in this culture, toss in madness, toss in mystical states, toss in being gay, toss in being HIV-positive, toss in religion that assures you God hates you for all of that - and then look me in the eye and tell me you can feel ok about yourself. I dare you. I just dare you.

Hi Gary, Gina, Zee, Josie, John & Michael.

Thankyou for your comments.

Gary~ Pass on my best wishes to Zoey; a great use for a church hall!
Gina. I trust you’re able to make progress, good for you in keeping up your good work.
Zee `It will be a multi purpose building, like many in Malawi to be used for a variety of things within the community including a catholic church for services.
Josie-the night should be enjoyable
John ~I am largely unfamiliar with the writings of Ken Wilber and the context or background of this particular quote which sits rather oddly and is unconnected to my posting. As an American integral philosopher, I understand his books integrate ego psychology, philosophy, post-modernism, religious doctrines and even sayings of St Augustine to make up his own world view. Many seem to like his idea of bringing spiritualism and psychology closer together by virtue of his integrated approach but in some academic and scientific circles I notice his critics, who are also scathing in their reviews.
Michael
This year was especially rewarding considering the exchange rate of the Australian dollar was so strong against the US dollar, which is the currency we remit our funds in, so it’s been amazing how far they have extended.
Best wishes

Lindsay, Ken Wilber has a cult following here in the US. Frankly, I have no understanding of that which he is carrying on about.
Many Americans are susceptible to such figures because they are looking for something in which to believe and refuse to let it be. It is similar to the Scientology phenomenon.
The Ntandire Church looks like it will do a great deal of good in Malawi.
Best Wishes.

i have this mental image of your new building on a still, dark night, stars piercing the sky overhead, with warm, golden light pouring from windows and around the people flowing in the open doors. i think they all have pots of food in their hands. it looks like a wonderful place to gather.
